How many % of pine tar must there be in soap?

That’s a really good question. First off, I’m not sure pine tar has actually been proven to help acne. I’ve read some stuff about other skin issues like eczema and psoriasis but not acne. And I’m not sure it’s been proven effective for those either. This said, I still work with it. In my hand made bar soaps (made from olive & coconut oils and shea butter) I use 20% pine tar. BUT my soaps are solid bars so low water – and thus a higher concentration of everything. 1.6 might be enough, or perhaps it has so little cause the stuff has quite a distinctive odor (think dirty socks and burning tree sap mixed) they need to keep the level low so the soap can smell good. (I don’t worry about the smell of mine!). If you want to try a pine tar soap I’d suggest something hand made like this (I know the woman, and trust her stuff!!) http://www.etsy
