How many nations comprised the first General Assembly of the United Nations?
From the U.N. website, http://www.un.org/aboutun/milestones.htm On January 10, 1946 the first General Assembly, with 51 nations represented, opened in Central Hall, Westminster, London. Previously, on April 25, 1945, representatives of 50 countries had met in San Francisco at the United Nations Conference on International Organization to draw up the United Nations Charter. Poland, which was not represented at the Conference, signed it later and became one of the original 51 Member States.
