Depends on the line, but the maximum speed on any Underground line is currently 50MPH. Metropolitan Line trains used to run at up to 70MPH, but were speed-limited to 50MPH a few years ago due to reliability problems (these trains are now almost 50 years old). When new trains are introduced on the Metropolitan Line in the next few years, they will run at a maximum of 60MPH.
