How many miles per gallon per person do ferry boats make?
There are many different types of ferries, but I’m going to assume you’re asking about modern, typical ship ferries like the Staten Island Ferry. . It’s easy to find out about the size of these ships, the power of their engines etc., but calculating miles per gallon is dependent on how much weight they are carrying (full or partial loads, just people vs. people and cars…), how fast they are moving, what the water current direction and strength is (as well as wind) etc. . And so this doesn’t seem to be included with typical ferry data. . However, here’s a theoretical Hawaiian “Superferry” that would only get 0.02 miles per gallon: http://homepage.mac.com/juanwilson/islandbreath/%20Year%202007/20-HookahiKauai/0720-09Superferry.html . The article compares the efficiency of Hawaiian airlines, at 0.44 miles per gallon. . And here’s the best expl
