How many Malaysians are working in Sri Lanka via MERCY Malaysia?
At present, there are six MERCY Malaysia representatives in Menik Farm, Cheddikulam, Vavuniya in Sri Lanka – two officials, two members of staff and three volunteers. 2. How many of them are Malaysian Indians? When we send teams out, we do not send them on the basis of race or religion but on the needs required. I would like to think that we are all Malaysians. Since you asked, there were two Malaysian Indians there recently, one a board member and the other, a volunteer who acted as translator. 3. How many doctors and how many support staff are working there? At the moment we have six Malaysians and a team of local support staff. Doctors who are working in the health centres are from Sri Lanka and volunteer their time to be there. They are scheduled for duty through a partnership with the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Ministry of Healthcare and Nutrition.
