How many luminaires / lamps with what power consumption are needed to guarantee an optimal lighting of a room?
This is a frequently asked question. The customer is not sure. He does not know how many lamps with what power consumption and beam angle he should use. In such a case, it is only possible to give a non-binding recommendation. The optimal lighting depends on many factors such as size / height of the room, colors (bright or dark colors) of walls, floor, ceiling and furniture as well as on the type of lighting required (flood or spot lighting). Here we can only give limited recommendations because the appropriate illumination is a very personal issue. In case of doubt, a lighting specialist should be consulted. In general, the following formula applies: 10-20 W per square meter!
