How many listens did it take for Tools Lateralus album to grow on you?
The first time I listened to it all the way through I liked it but I wasn’t in love with it. There were a few tracks that stood out to me (Parabol/Parabola, Schism, Ticks and Leeches, Lateralus, Reflection, and Triad) but It wasn’t until I started reading their lyrics that I realized just how impressive this album truly was (not that their musicianship wasn’t good enough but lyrics are what always seal the deal for me). That’s when I got hooked. So, if you just toss it in the CD player and tap your toes to it don’t expect to enjoy it all that much. It takes an effort on our part, the listeners, to really get the whole experience. That’s how I see it anyways.
