How many lines does Prince Hamlet speak in the play “The Tragedy Of Hamlet”?
In addition to being the longest play and one of the most challenging roles, Hamlet is also one of the largest roles of Shakespeare’s; I think it has more lines than any other although King Lear and Richard III give it a run for its money. In a brilliant Canadian TV miniseries “Slings and Arrows” the director tells his Hamlet that the role is basically 5 monologues, but he never answers anyone with a simple “yes.” There are little trivia sites where you can find out the precise number of lines, but I can’t think of any right off.
