How many Keystone Exams would a student have to pass in order to graduate if a district chooses to administer them?
If using solely the Keystone Exams for graduation purposes, a student would have to score proficient in six out of 10 assessments: both the literature and composition exams, any two of the math exams, any one of the science exams, and any one of the social studies exams. The number of tests that students must take will depend on the option chosen by the school district and student performance. To be eligible to graduate, a student must score proficient on the reading, math and science PSSA tests, on six of the 10 Keystone Exams as spelled out in the proposal or on aligned local assessments. The Keystone proposal does not specify how many individual tests must be included in the local assessment package. Remember, use of the Keystone Exams is strictly at the option of each school board. There is no requirement that these tests be administered to students or that the results be used for graduation purposes unless the school district elects to do so.
