How many juniors and seniors will be living in residential colleges?
Princeton’s undergraduate student body is being increased by 500 students, from 4,700 to 5,200. The phased increase began in the fall of 2005 and should be completed by 2012. In 2008-09, the four-year residential colleges will again house about 300 juniors and seniors, of which approximately 125 will be in Mathey and approximately 175 will be in Whitman. Also in 2008-09, Butler remains a two-year college, with a smaller population, since five previously existing Butler dorms (the New New Quad) were demolished. Until the New Butler dorms are completed, Butler will occupy 1915, Bloomberg and Cuyler. Wu Hall continues to provide dining and social spaces, and house the college offices. In 2009-10, Butler College will open as a four-year college, occupying new dormitories designed by Pei Cobb Freed as well as 1915 and Bloomberg, and supplementing Wu Hall with new academic and social facilities created as part of the new dormitory complex.
