How many Jews were killed in the 2nd World War not only in Germany.?
Six million is the number usually given, but I don’t know to the letter. A misconception people sometimes have about the Holocaust is “Six million were killed but they weren’t all Jews.” About six million Jewish people were killed and possibly as many or more Poles, Gypsies, Russian prisoners, German Christians who opposed Hitler, French, etc. were also killed, bringing the Holocaust numbers well above 10 million probably. There were other Jewish people killed in the war, I don’t know the number of US servicemen who were killed who were Jewish, I’m sure there were civilians and military in Britain and other countries who were Jewish and killed. It probably reached in the thousands over and above the Holocaust.
Maggie, yes – it’s impossible to conceive but the number of Jews who perished at the hands of Nazi Germany has been put at 6million. An actual figure will never be found. I state here and now I am not Jewish, I love them , their culture, in my heart I know them to be the apple of Gods eyes. Six million perished in the “Holocaust” at the hands of that madman Hitler and all those involved. These unfortunates were murdered. The word “holocaust” originally meant an offering to God that was entirely consumed by fire. It now refers to any large area or great number of people destroyed by fire. Spelled out this was the background for the Nazis’ in power–1933 to 1945–the years of the Holocaust. Russia never admitted that the Jews were being killed just because they were Jews. She insisted as that as Soviet citizens the Jews suffered as Russians, not in any particular way because they were Jews. to separate them by name was not possible. The Russians would not even discuss the problem. We did see the other side of Ivan’s face in the 1944 Warsaw uprising by the Jews. The Russians watched and let the Germans wipe them out. Hitler and Stalin gave silent applause
I think 6 million people died. Jews scare the crap out of Germans – not sure why. Lots of Jews could read – lots of Germans couldn’t. So Germans felt sort of outclassed. And as it turned out, the Germans killed the very people who could have helped them win the war – Jewish doctors, lawyers, scientists… It was a strange time.
