How many internal auditors should be trained?
There is no standard guidance for the number of internal auditors that should be trained. An industry rule of thumb is that one percent of the organization’s population should be trained as internal auditors. However, it is recommended to train at least two people to be internal auditors. Ultimately this is a decision that must be made by the installation’s leadership and should consider the mission impact and the resources available.
