The Florida Lottery is arranging for Instant Ticket Vending Machines to be installed in select locations. The decision to install the machines was made after a 2007 pilot project showed scratch-off sales increased in places where the machines were placed, said Laurie Wright, a public affairs specialist for the Lottery. The Legislature granted approval for the placement of 1,000 machines in top-selling retail stores, Wright said. The 12-county lottery district that includes Marion County will receive 47 of the vending machines during the first week of October. The machines are slightly smaller than a soft drink vending machine and are designed to accept currency only, no coins or credit or debit cards.
