According to the department, during Fiscal Year 2007-08, the most recent data available, 1,728 inmates earned general equivalency diplomas (GED) while in the Florida prison system and 1,658 inmates were awarded vocational certificates. A total of 23,266 inmates participated in education courses during the fiscal year.
