How many inmates are housed in the Utah State Prison?
As of Tuesday, June 15, 2010, the department had custody of 6,645 inmates in the Draper facility, the Central Utah Correctional Facility in Gunnison, Utah and contracted out to several county jails throughout the state. Of those inmates, 537 are females and the remaining 6,108 are males. Q: Have operations throughout the Utah State Prison changed due to the anticipated execution. A: The entire prison system will go into lockdown mode on Thursday, June 17, 2010. Normal operations are expected to resume at either on Friday, June 18, or Sunday, June 20, depending on the wishes of security officials.
