How many hospitals in London provide cardiac surgery/cardiology?
Almost every hospital in London provides some sort of cardiology service. The exact make up of the service varies, with different hospitals offering different types of surgery, outpatient clinics and diagnostic services. Within these hospitals there are already eight designated centres that treat acute heart attacks using ‘emergency’ or primary PCI 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Cardiac surgery is located in fewer hospitals than cardiology. Across London there are eight hospitals that offer cardiac surgery services. These are not in every case the same hospitals that have been designated as the heart attack centres.
