How many hospitals have earned Magnet designation?
Magnet designation is a prestigious recognition. Only two percent of all acute care health care organizations, in addition to St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center, out of nearly 6,000 institutions nationwide currently hold the designation. St. Joseph’s is one of just five hospitals in New York State and the only hospital in Central New York with Magnet status. The Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, John Hopkins in Maryland, Robert Wood Johnson University in New Jersey, and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles are among the 238 Magnet-designated hospitals.
