How many high school foreign language credits do colleges want?
It really depends on the college. Most 4-year colleges require 2 years. A lot prefer 3 or more. The more foreign language credits you have, the more power it’ll have on your application. If there are 2 equally good candidates, but one’s taken 4 years of a foreign language and the other’s only taken 2 or 3, they’ll give the spot to the one with 4 years. But it really depends on the selectivity of the college you’re applying to. A lot of colleges have a recommended number that they want to see.
