KINGMAN — Under cloudy skies and cool temperatures, the Lake Havasu City Sharks Special Olympics swim team captured 15 gold, six silver and one bronze at the third and final Mohave County Special Olympics Area Swim Meet. Havasu competed against teams from Bullhead City and Kingman. The Sharks’ Belinda Goode recorded the best time of any competitors in the 50-meter backstroke with a time of 1:14:38, 6:25 better than her last swim at the Lake Havasu City-hosted meet in August. Goode also took the silver in the 25-meter butterfly. Bryan Smith was awarded two gold medals — in the 50-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:27:97, and with teammates Heidi Rahnefeld, Michael Carton and Tessa Rager, in the 4×50 medley relay. Smith also picked up a silver in the 50-meter freestyle. The 4×25 freestyle relay team of Kenny Hawthorne, Christina Whitehead, Michael Carton and Goode also earned gold for Havasu.
