How many girls on here willl wear a burka or jihab?
I saw a woman on a bus today dressed in a burkha with only her eyes visible. I imagine that she feels that the lack of sexual attention she gets as a result is a sign of respect. In fact from my perspective my lack of attention towards her was a sign that I didn’t recognise her as an individual person with an identity. Muslim women who practice hijab or wear face veils need to be careful that they aren’t seen as anonymous and non-entities in public. That would be a step backward for women. Simply being ignored by men is not a sign of respect from men, clearly.
