How many Gambian artists attended this Pan African Art Festival?
Sambou: Well, about forty six Gambian artists left this country to attend the festival. Among these were artists from the rural areas, dancers, singers as well as actors. It is worth pointing out that Gambia was in attendance at Pan African art Festival for the first time. The Gambia did not attend the first edition forty years ago, as the country was just four years old then. Foroyaa: What was the the duration of the festival and also how many artists were in attendance all together? Sambou: The duration of the festival was roughly twenty five days. It started on 2nd July 2009 and ended on 27th July 2009. Fifty countries were invited and they came with 8000 artists, 2260 dancers, 160 authors, poets and story tellers as well as 232 film directors, 40 on theater, 9 visual artists, 600 crafts men, 2300 singers and dancers and 500 musicians. These participants were drawn from 50 African countries including Brazil , which has close relations with Algeria .
