How many First Nations are in the B.C treaty process?
As of September 30, 2006, there were 116 of 195 eligible BC First Nations / Indian bands in the treaty process, or approximately 60 per cent. These First Nations / Indian bands were sitting individually or as part of treaty group of BC First Nations at 45 BC treaty tables. Six First Nations / Indian bands from the Yukon and Northwest Territories at three treaty tables were also involved in the BC treaty process, negotiating cross-boundary claims.
