How many firefighters are on duty each day?
The number varies from 7 to as many as 11 depending on scheduling, with 7 being the minimum for the day. Included in this number is a Battilion Chief who is in charge of the day-to-day operations of the stations and emergency responses. Three Paramedic staffed ambulances, as well as 2 fire engines and a truck company (formerly known as a ladder truck) are available for response. In addition 6 people work in fire administration providing departmental command, fire and EMS training, and fire prevention and code enforcement.
