Well first let’s be fair – there are a few climate scientists who disagree about the degree to which humans are contributing to global warming, and there is a fair amount of disagreement about how bad the consequences will be. That being said, the consensus among experts is very robust. The problem is that people don’t listen to scientists, they listen to the media. The media likes to be ‘fair and balanced’, so every time they interview a climate scientist, they feel like they have to interview a ‘skeptic’, so the ‘skeptics’ get a lot more media coverage than they deserve, and then people don’t know who to believe. There’s also a lot of misinformation out there, and you get people who don’t understand the credibility difference between NASA and a right-wing think tank like the Heritage Foundation. Or they don’t understand the difference between contributors to the IPCC and the “scientists” who signed the Oregon Petition. Ultimately people who don’t want to believe humans are causing gl
