How many ensembles are there?
There are four – one orchestra, one wind ensemble, a contemporary music ensemble, and a Baroque performance practice ensemble. How are ensemble rotations decided? Can I be in more than one group simultaneously? Students generally play in either orchestra or wind ensemble at one time, but Contemporary and Baroque Ensembles are additional rather than substitute assignments. What kind of chamber music opportunities are there, and how are groups formed? All students are required to take some semesters of chamber music (varying according to the degree), although interested students can also apply on their own. Students may petition to form their own groups or request to be placed in a certain type of ensemble. Where can I learn more about financial aid? Those interested in the graduate program should visit the School of Music’s graduate information page. Undergraduate assistance is awarded by the university, and interested students should visit The Hub for more information. The Flute Studio
