How many English classes are required at Silverton High School ?
Because English is the most important subject on the planet, all students must take it all four years in order to graduate. (I’m not kidding about that most important subject detail!). Freshman English is single-level, one-credit course which combines all the elements of language arts: reading, writing and speaking. Advanced Placement (or A.P.) English is available to students beginning in their sophomore year, and this is also the year at which remedial classes become available to those students requiring extra reinforcment in basic English skills. Please consult your current English teacher about placement into either one of these programs. Students wishing to pursue a college education are encouraged to take at least one year of A.P. English: it could be useful in earning college credit.
