How many drug related crimes were committed?
Drug crimes are not classified as criminal code incidents. The rate of drug crimes in this province in 2001 was about 170 per 100,000 population compared to Canada at about 295 per 100,000 population. 87.3% of drug offences were Cannabis offences, with about two-thirds for possession, and 30% for trafficking. About three out of four drug offences in 2001 in Canada were Cannabis offences; about 70% of these were for possession, 16% for trafficking and 13% for production.
