• There are currently eight working whisky distilleries on Islay, with a ninth one expected to open soon. The eight existing ones are (in alphabetical order): Ardbeg, Bowmore, Bruichladdich, Bunnahabhain, Caol Ila, Kilchoman, Lagavulin and Laphroaig. The ninth distillery will be the Port Charlotte Distillery (more about the Port Charlotte Distillery Warehouse On Islay). • In addition to the distilleries on Islay there is also the Isle of Jura Distillery on neighbouring Jura.
