How Many Different Types of Car Insurance are there?
The many different types of car insurance cover you, your car, your passengers and anyone injured in an at-fault accident. The required minimum types of auto insurance are known as PD/PL, or Property Damage/Personal Liability insurance in most states. These cover damages you cause in an accident to the other party’s vehicle and any bodily injuries sustained by others. There are about a dozen other types of coverage available when you’re looking for insurance. Some of these are comprehensive and collision, underinsured/uninsured motorist, personal injury protection, roadside assistance, towing, loan GAP insurance, loss of income from missed work and coverage for custom or performance parts installed.
