There are four main blood types – A, B, AB and O. If a blood transfusion is not matched with a patient, there can be a reaction. The blood of other species is different. For example, the blood in a bird is different from human blood. The blood of a snake is quite a bit different from human blood. What is the oldest and youngest person you have ever performed surgery on? Personally, I have performed procedures on a 12-year-old and a patient who was 96. Surgery can even be performed on a baby before he or she is born.
