How many different kinds of apples are there in the world?
Well, it depends what you mean by “kinds”. If you count all the wild and crab apples, then there are about 35 recognised species of the genus Malus. If we are sticking to the orchard or table apple that we buy in the shops as eating and cooking apples, there is one species, namely Malus domesticus.
