How many different dimensions are there in existence?
Very brief, diluted explanation from a real layman. Superstring theory, and its various ‘flavours’ discusses 10 dimensions which include the 3 normal spacial and one space-time dimension. The remaining 6 are enclosed within the space smaller than the Planck length of 10^-33cm across (ever sooo tiny!) 26 dimensions have also been discussed, and experimental evidence of sub-atomic partical behaviour does support this theory. As organisms we can only freely move in the spacial 3 dimensions of Height, Width and Length. Although we can experience the passage of time, we have no control of it, although strictly speaking, Space-Time is considered a fourth dimension. The remaining dimensions are thought to have manifested themselves to sub Planck length at a finite time post Big Bang! I’m sure any true physicists will develop this further, my sources make for fascinating reading! String Theory probably sounds bonkers, as does Quantum Theory but we have to appreciate that despite its weirdness,
