The Barnum Company started manufacturing the famous animal cracker in 1902 in the United States and today over 40 million boxes are sold each year. The box of animal crackers were originally made with a string. This was not to make carrying it easier; however, it was to be able to hang the circus train box on the Christmas tree. Today, animal crackers are still very popular with millions of kids.
