How many degrees can my iron loft and lie angles be adjusted?
The answer depends on several factors. Iron heads are made from a variety of metals, some of which have a thin coat of nickel and chrome plating. Irons that have been made from one of several types of carbon steel are easily adjusted by as many as 6 degrees. However, the plating applied to these irons to prevent rust is brittle and any bending will create stress cracks in the plating. If you are ok with minor cracks in the plating only, we will adjust carbon steel irons up to 4 degrees. Irons made from a class of steel called “stainless” are usually more brittle and more difficult to bend. Some stainless steels are easier to bend then others. We will bend stainless irons at least 2 degrees and can go farther if requested, after examining the metal. A final consideration is if the iron hosel has already been bent. For example, if an iron was already bent 2 degrees and now you want it bent another 2 degrees in the same direction that may be beyond the iron’s limit. Again, an examination
