How many credits can I take as a full-time student? What is the maximum number of credits I can without having to pay extra tuition?
SIPA students may not be registered for more than 18 points of credit at any given time without the authorization of the dean at registration. There are two reasons for this. At SIPA, a flat-fee tuition rate is in effect for those enrolled for 12 to 18 points. The tuition charge for enrollments of more than 18 credits or for 1 to 11 credits is on a per-point basis. In the past, students oversubscribed for classes during registration with the idea that they would drop the ones they did not want later in the term. This practice limited seats available to those who really wanted to take those classes during the add / drop period and created an illusion of scarcity.
