How many courses can an ACA Scholar take in a year?
ACA Scholars are able to take three credit-bearing courses (total of 12 credit hours) during the year. Scholars usually take one course the first semester and two the second semester. Substantial amounts of reading and writing are expected in most Allegheny courses. Most classes meet 3 hours a week; professors typically expect 2-3 hours of study in preparation for each hour spent in class. Some courses, for example Computer Science courses, require many hours in lab in addition to the three hours spent in class.
