How many copies of software should an instructor purchase?
Unless otherwise stated by the software vendor, sufficient software licenses must be purchased for the total number of computers in the requested location. For example, if a class with 13 students requires the use of software in a lab comprised of 24 student computers plus an additional instructor computer, licenses for 25 computers are required. If software installation is requested for multiple labs, additional licenses must be purchased equal to the sum of the requested number of computers. Some software vendors offer site licenses or other concurrent use options. Please contact Academic Technologies staff for assistance evaluating options or software installation requirements: acadtech@gwu.edu.
