How Many Construction Unions Are There?
Do you know? There are ten. That’s right, there are ten different labor unions, legally recognized by the Ministry of Labor and authorized to organize construction workers for collective bargaining purposes. During the press conference yesterday Labor Minister Reynaldo Rivera said that “just because the SUNTRACS has the word “unica” in their name, they think they are the only construction union in the country, which is simply not the case.” In Spanish, “unica” means like “the one and only” and the SUNTRACS labor union would like it to be that way, for them to be the only game in town.
