How many communist countries exists today?
Communism is a highly idealized social & economic order. It exists nowhere on earth. There are countries that are ruled by parties / ideologies with names like Communist, Worker, Peoples, etc… They are often called “communist countries” by some, although there is no strict definition of a “communist country”. They would include North Korea, China, Nepal, Albania, Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia, Nicaragua (questionable), Libya — count 9 so far. There are many more similar countries that only differ from the above by their rulers using some different terminology (e.g. Myanmar, Congo, Zimbabwe, etc.). Typically these countries are opressed, with glaring inequalities, and generally as remote from the communist ideal as one can get. Finally, there are very advanced countries with wealthy, well-balanced, and educated population. These would include Denmark, France, Iceland, Netherlands, etc… Their socieities are the closest to the Marxist definition of communism, although they practice a mixt
