How many City police officers will be assigned to the annexation area?
The Kent Police Department intends to assign officers 24/7 to each of the three patrol districts in the City. The Panther Lake area will become a fourth separate patrol district. The patrol officers assigned to the different patrol districts can help respond to calls for service in other districts of the City. Additionally, a back-up officer, patrol sergeant and other support elements, such as K-9 units, traffic officers and detectives, can be only minutes away. Kent Police Department’s annexation staffing plan includes a Neighborhood Response Team (NRT) Officer who will also be specifically assigned to the annexed area, as well as additional detectives. Kent plans to hire a sufficient number of officers to ensure the annexation area receives the level and quality of service currently provided to the City of Kent.
