How many children did William Shakespeare have with Anne Hathaway?
William Shakespeare had three children with wife Anne Hathaway, whom he married at the age of eighteen; she was twenty-six. Their children included a daughter named Susanna, born six months after their marriage. She was christened on May 26, 1583. They also had twins Hamnet and Judith, born in January 1585. Hamnet and Judith were baptized on February 2, 1583, and were named for two of Shakespeare’s close friends, Hamnet and Judith Sadler, also of Stratford. Hamnet Shakespeare tragically died young, at just eleven years of age, and he was buried on August 11, 1596. Judith survived to 77.
