How many child labourers are there?
An estimated 250 million child workers, between the ages of 5 and 14, work part-time and full-time, according to the ILO. But he ILO admits that this number does not include children especially millions of girl children — who work at home and are not paid. Unicefs State of the Worlds Children Report says only that although the exact number is not known, it is surely in the hundreds of millions. More information about who child labourers are, where they live, and new statistics on the total number can be found on www.ilo.org; also, the US Dept. of Labours By The Sweat and Toil of Children, Vol. VI: An Economic Consideration of Child Labour.
