How many channels does Pro64 A-Net support?
It depends. At the base 44.1/48kHz sample rate in Auto Mode, a system can have up to 64 channels in it. Those channels can enter the system at any physical location and can be output anywhere else, regardless of how the network is connected. Once the audio is inserted into the system, it’s protected by the network. Manual Mode, on the other hand, is a 64×64 system (at the base sample rate) where the two 64-channel streams are directional (one in each direction, like a traditional analog snake). So at any point in the system, you can have up to 128 channels on the cable, passing through every device. Each I/O module needs to be assigned to one of the two 64-channel streams. In addition, because you can insert new audio into the system at any time, “overwriting” a channel that’s already in the stream, there is no practical limit to the number of audio channels in a system.
