How many CEUs may be awarded for any given program?
The number of CEUs awarded for an event is calculated based on the event’s exact number of instructional hours. Under the IACET standards, ten (10) hours of instruction equal one (1) CEU. Instructional hours do not include time involved in coffee breaks, meals, social activities, business and committee meetings, or vendor exhibits. CEUs are not awarded to those individuals who leave a session or event early. See example below: Two-Day Workshop: Begin Time: 9:00 am End Time: 4:30 pm Total Time: 7.5 hours Less 1.5 hours for lunch / breaks 6 hours of instruction = .6 CEUs** ** if ten (10) hours of instruction equal (1) CEU, then six (6) hours of instruction equal .6 CEU.
