How many campaign streamers are attached to the Army flag staff? Is there a list available?
There are currently (1998) 175 streamers attached to the Army flag staff to denote campaigns fought by the Army throughout the service’s history. The U.S. Army Center of Military History (CMH) lists these at http://www.army.mil/cmh-pg/reference/arflg.htm. Brief descriptions of the campaigns represented are included. A brief history of the adoption and continued authorization of campaign streamers is in John Wilson, Campaign Streamers (Arlington, VA: Association of the United States Army, n.d.).
