How many calories should a teen eat a day to loose a couple pounds and get fit?
Stretches are pretty much necessary before any sort of work-out, so incorporate 5 minutes of stretching into your treadmill routine. Just stretch one arm across your chest for 30 secs, then the other. Put one behind your head and pull gently down on your elbow with the other (again for about 30 seconds) and repeat with the other arm. Sit down with your legs spread and reach toward your left toe (don’t bounce), hold for a 30 count and switch sides. Cross your left leg over your right so your left foot is near your right knee, then turn to your left, hold and switch. Jump rope is great cardio if you get tired of running, and if you don’t have a rope, jumping jacks are good too. In high school, I found it easier to do things like crunches, push ups (the “girl” kind on my knees), and jumping jacks that don’t require any equipment. You could get 5-10 lb. weights, but it might be easier to just fill two large water bottles and do some basic arm-toning exercises such as raising them above you
