How MANY bottles of ALCOHOL should a person drink EVERYDAY before they qualify to be to called ALCOHOLIC?
It really has nothing to do with the amount consumed…per the DSM-IV quantity is not a qualifier for a diagnosis of either alcohol dependance or alcohol abuse. Someone could become an alcoholic drinking only one drink per day, other may drink a bottle of wine and not meet the critera for diagnosis. What does need to happen for a diagnosis comes down to impairment…when the use of alcohol negatively effects aspects of your life (such as school, work relationships, legal problems etc) then, you may meet critera for a diagnosis.
