Only Doug Williams has won as a starter. Eight other black quarterbacks have won a ring without playing in the game.

I know of three: Doug Williams, Washington Redskins (1988); Steve McNair, Tennessee Titans (2000); and Donovan McNabb, Philadelphia Eagles, (2005). How many black starting pitchers have played in the World Series? To that I do not have an answer, but I would be willing to bet that it is a low number. What about basketball the NBA? The numbers of black players is much higher than in the other sports. The number is extremely low in hockey, NASCAR, and the PGA. Are we going to apply affirmative action to our sports? No! Why not Smith? Because sports is based on talent, not whether you are white or black. Do we really want roughly 13% (roughly the percentage of the overall population in the U.S.A. made up of blacks) of the NBA to be black? Sure, if they are less talented than 87% of others. However, since I am a fan of the NBA, I want to see the best players out there and right now that seems to favor the black man playing in the NBA.
