How many beers to get alcohol poisoning?

Alcohol poisoning sets in when you reach about a blood alcohol content of about 0.25% Your friend is right. Different people respond to alcohol differntly, but to reach a BAC of 0.25% an average male, 170lbs, would have to drink about 12 beers in a 2 hour period. Generally unconsiousness sets in at about .3%, which would be about 14 beers in a 2 hour period.. and death at .4% which would be about 18 beers in a 2 hour period. A 22oz bottle is a little less than 2 beers… if you chugged 2 of them (which I have done PLENTY of times in my wild college days) in an hour, your BAC would be about .1% which makes you illegal to drive (assuming you are of legal drinking age in the first place) but other than some slight staggering, slurred speech, and feeling “bubbly”… you certainly wouldn’t be in a condition of alcohol poisoning…. Chugging 2 22oz would give you a good buzz, but that’s about it.

We’ll assume that alcohol poisoning occurs when your blood alcohol concentration reaches 0.4%. If you’re a 175 pound male, it would take somewhere in the range of 17-18 12 ounce beers consumed in 1 hour to get alcohol poisoning.
