How many battalions did the 60th Regiment have?
From 1813 until 1815 the 60th Regiment had a total of eight battalions. The 1st to 4th Battalions were conventional line infantry clothed in red, each having a green-clad rifle company in addition. The 6th (Light Infantry) Battalion also wore red, but maintained two rifle companies. The 5th (Rifle), 7th (Light Infantry) and 8th (Light Infantry) Battalions wore green rifle uniforms; whereas the former was armed entirely with rifles, the latter two had eight musket-armed companies and two of riflemen. A 9th and a 10th Battalion were authorised, but never raised.
